Wayne State College officially joined the NCSA for the 2024-2025 season! The NCSA is excited to welcome the Wildcats who join Colorado State University-Pueblo, University of Missouri, Washington University in St. Louis, Youngstown State University, University of St. Thomas, Yale University, University of New Mexico and Nova Southeastern University as the new teams for ’24-’25 thus far.

Two weeks are in the books for the NCSA DI 24/25 season, and just a tiny shakeup within the Rawlings Week 3 NCSA DI Top 20. Your defending National Champs stay at #1, but after dropping two games to James Madison University, Navy drops out of the Top 3 and down to #4. Navy has had two really tough opponents in back to back weeks which is why they stayed in the Top 5.
After taking two of 3 from Navy, James Madison took the biggest leap, jumping 4 spots to #14 and even earned a first-place vote.
Still lots of softball to play, so stay tuned for the next poll to see who makes the Top-20 cut!

No surprise, our defending NCSA DI National Champions, the United States Air Force Academy are your Preseason NCSA DI #1 Team. They were however not a unanimous #1. Air Force took 16 of the 18 available 1st place votes while the #2 Team, Illinois received a vote of confidence earning a first place vote. Not to be outdone, the United State Naval Academy also earned a first place vote helping them come in at #3 in the Preseason Polls.
As your defending National Champions put it, “Rankings do no matter until the final game of the National Tournament.” A very wise and true statement and a lot of softball to be played before we crown the 2025 NCSA DI National Champion. Who will be atop these rankings at the end of May? Could it be your team? Let’s play some ball and find out!

Next Poll Released: 9/26/24
The South Atlantic Conference has been historically a powerhouse in the NCSA. It’s home to 6 National Champions! The University of Florida a 3-time National Champion, Florida State a 2-time National Champion and Clemson who won it in 2021 are all members of the South Atlantic. The North Conference features the University of Georgia alongside it’s arch rival Clemson. Both are mainstays at the World Series, but South CArolina, Auburn and Tennessee can always make a push. The South Conference is very competitive as well. Lately, it’s been dominated by FSU and Florida, but with 7 teams in the conference, maybe a new team will emerge. You’ll always see a South Atlantic Region Team late in the National Championship Tournament. Who will that be this year? You be the judge! Take a look at the South Atlantic Region Team Previews.
The Pacific Region saw Northern Arizona win the Regional Title in 2024 after beating at-large bid Boise State in back to back games Championship Round games. Both teams qualified for the World Series, and both are expected to make some noise once again in 2025. Lot’s of competitive teams make up the Region. Oregon has always been a force but with Boise State making a run last year, the North Conference could be up for grabs. The Central Conference has been dominated by UC Davis lately and the South Conference has NAU. Who will come out on top in each conference this year? The North Atlantic Region will be wide open in 2025 with both the 2024 Regional Winner, Maryland, and Runner-Up, Navy, moving to the Mid-Atlantic Region after off-season realignments. Penn State has always been a force in the North Atlantic and Delaware will be a tough team too after coming off a disappointing season in 2024. With only two conferences making up the Region, the top two in each conference will move one. Penn State and Delaware will be two tough teams in the South Conference, but who will be the top two from the North Conference? Will St. Bonaventure continue to build off a playoff appearance last year? Will Niagara make it back to Regionals. Could be exciting to watch in 2025. The NCSA is excited to announce that we have agreed to an extension through 2028 with Visit PCB and Publix Sports Park to continue hosting our annual Swing into Spring event each March.
Publix Sports Park is located in sunny beautiful Panama City Beach, Florida & features 5 fully turf fields. Built in 2019, it’s a beautiful complex situated just miles from the beach which also provides a fantastic destination for Spring Break when away from the field.
2025 will be the 3rd straight year the event takes place in PCB as each year has brought 50+ NCSA teams down on their Spring Break.

The New England Region has been dominated by Sacred Heart University the last couple of years. They’ve won the region in 2023 and 2024 which qualified the Pioneers for the NCSA World Series. As the top team heading into the 2023 NCSA World Series, Sacred Heart had a disappointing finish at the National Championship going 0-3 in Pool Play and 1-2 in the double elimination portion of the event. That put a chip on Sacred Heart’s shoulder and coming into 2024 they finished as a final four team losing to the eventual National Champions, Air Force. Sacred Heart seems poised to win another conference title, but it will be no easy feat. Who will win the Region this year? Will it be Sacred Heart for a 3rd straight year, or will UConn take the New England Crown? Lot’s of talented teams that should make the New England Region a fun one to watch during the 24/25 season. The Mid-Atlantic Region is no stranger to successful teams. The 2022 and 2023 NCSA World Series National Champions, Virginia Tech are usually a mainstay at the World Series as a representative of the Region. But this year could be different. After realignment, the Mid-Atlantic North Conference may be the strongest in the country. It features 3 teams that made the World Series last year in Virginia Tech, Navy and Maryland. James Madison who qualified for the Regional last year is also in that conference. So what two teams make it out of that conference to qualify for the Mid-Atlantic Regional? The South Conference is also extremely competitive with UNC and NC State. It will be fun to watch the Mid-Atlantic Region this year and who makes it to Columbus is anyone’s guess. You be the judge. The Mid-America Region is home to the 2024 National Champions, the United States Air Force Academy. Air Force flew under the radar for most of the 2023/2024 year, never being ranked #1 despite an impressive conference record. They went undefeated at the Mid-America Regional capturing the Mid-America Regional Championship. At the World Series, they only dropped on game all together and claimed their 1st ever National Championship. Air Force lost it’s World Series MVP, Lindsey Weber but return a lot of key players for 24/25. Will they repeat in 2025 or will another team take home the Mid-America Crown? You be the judge.
